Christopher J.R. Hoerter
Chris was born in Louisville and graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1997.  He paid for his tuition by walking two paper routes and lifeguarding year-round.  He moved to Washington, D.C. with his typewriter and attended Georgetown University for his first year of college.  He went on to earn his B.A. from Stanford University where the social reformer, Richard Rorty, was his mentor.  After working as a researcher at an engineering firm in the San Francisco Bay Area, Chris moved back to Louisville.  He worked remotely for five years and traveled to the Bay Area for projects, until he changed course and went to law school at the University of Louisville.
 
Today, with more than ten years of trial practice, he owns Chris Hoerter Law PLLC and works as a public defender.  His private practice focuses on criminal defense, parents’ rights, personal injury, and civil rights litigation.  Chris is partnered with national civil rights organizations and is regional counsel for the United States Concealed Carry Association Critical Response Team.

Chris is licensed to practice in Kentucky, Indiana, the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern District of Kentucky, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.  His teams are the Louisville Cardinals and Atlanta Hawks.  When he is not cherishing time with his family, he enjoys studying horse racing data, working on his free throws in the Olmstead parks, and running muddy trails with his dog.
